Yewcic Award Winner - Debbie Hayes
Debbie is a lifelong Arlington resident who dedicated her career to expanding sports and recreation opportunities for the community. Through her leadership with Arlington Recreation and Fidelity House, she helped generations of youth stay active, build confidence, and form lasting relationships.
As Recreation Supervisor and later Superintendent of Recreation, Debbie oversaw key facilities, including the Arlington Sports Center and Reservoir, and played a major role in improving parks, fields, and playgrounds across town. Even after retiring from the Town, she continued working with youth at the Arlington Boys & Girls Club until her retirement in 2024.
Guest Speaker - Abby Chin
Abby Chin is the longtime Boston Celtics’ courtside reporter for NBC Sports Boston. A key contributor to the multi-Emmy Award winning regional broadcasts. Abby has also covered major events for national networks from the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang on NBC to NBA Summer League on NBATV.
In an effort to grow, foster and guide the next generation of women in sports media Abby serves on the board of WISE (Women In Sports and Events) as Co-Chair of the Mentorship Committee and is on the Executive Board of AAJA’s Sports Taskforce. She also teaches a course at Boston College, sharing her experience and insight with aspiring journalists.
