Since 1943, the mission of The Touchdown Club has been “to promote the physical and social welfare of the youth of Arlington”. The annual Yewcic Award is given in honor of Tommy Yewcic, former Boston Patriot and longtime Touchdown Club member who lived this mission through his tireless commitment to giving back to Arlington.
For 30 years, Steve Moniak has been an energetic force for Arlington youth soccer development. His many positions include the ASC (Arlington Soccer Club) Boys BAYS (Boston Area Youth Soccer) Director, the ASC Vice-President, the ASC President, the ASC Director of Player and Coach Development, and the ASC liaison to the NE Revolution.
A self-described former “rink rat" from Billerica, Steve’s mission was to build a winning program with a culture of respect for teammates, coaches, referees, and opponents. His emphasis on sportsmanship permeated the ASC organization – from coaches to players and parents.
Today, the Arlington Soccer Club (ASC) boasts 2,000 youth participants annually. These players have contributed to the consistently strong Arlington High School Boys' and Girls' soccer teams year after year.
The ASC can also boast two future MLS players getting their start: Noel Buck of the New England Revolution (above) and Miles Robinson (left).
Miles was Atlanta United's #2 draft pick in 2017, coming off a stellar freshman year at Syracuse. In July 2021, Robinson was named to the 23-man United States men’s squad.
The Evening's Speaker: Noel Buck of the New England Revolution
The Arlington, Mass. native made his MLS debut in 2022. Buck, 20, owns 45 MLS appearances, including 30 matches started, over three seasons from 2022 to 2024. A graduate of the Revolution Academy, Buck made his professional debut at 16 with Revolution II. On the international level, Buck has represented England at the Under-19 and Under-20 levels. Buck is now reunited in New England with his older brother, Joe Buck.
